Dr. Melissa Cadet Watkins

Edosystems, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation founded by Dr. Melissa Cadet Watkins. The mission of the organization is to provide edosystem consulting including training and support services to transform American K-12 educational systems so that students flourish and become more competitive in domestic workspaces and global markets. Dr. Melissa Cadet Watkins is a veteran educator, executive manager, and strategic planner. She was the former CEO of the Marin City Community Development Corporation, CEO of the California Small School Districts Association, Assistant Superintendent of the Sacramento City Unified School District, Vice President of River West Developments, CEO of the Sacramento YWCA, and Executive Director of the United States Department of Commerce Minority Business Development Center.  She created the California Surplus Food Program. She co-founded the national Parent Teacher Home Visiting Program  which has been replicated in 20 states. She developed the international Sahel Economic Development and Food Assistance Program and  delights in helping children and families to thrive by improving their health, welfare, and socioeconomic condition.  Dr. Watkins used her fund development and grant writing prowess throughout her career to secure over $700,000,000 for various philanthropic and social justice causes. She holds a B.A. in economics from Stanford University, a Master’s degree in economics from California State University, Sacramento, and a Ph. D. in educational economics from the University of California, Davis. She is the author of The American Educational Challenge: Disillusioned Teachers, Disempowered Parents, and Disengaged Students (2026), a call to transform the American K-12 educational system.
